Speak Your Mind

FiringSquad has released their review for Halo PC, and it's a fairly well written column...if you can overlook the negative standpoint. The reviewer was obviously looking for that special "zing" that made the Xbox version so memorable, and was clearly disappointed. The score: 80%. However, the review does bring up some important issues for those who're thinking of buying the game, so it's a recommended read.

A Halo (Xbox) tournament has been scheduled by CyberJocks in Buffalo, NJ for October 18th. So if you live anywhere in that area...Set out, kick ass, and kill Covie!

Spoiler Alert: It appears that Gearbox did leave some Easter Eggs in Halo PC. One of the most recent was discovered using a mod that allowed the player to climb walls. If your curiosity is getting the best of you, visit this link! If you see any Easter Eggs, be sure to spread the laughs and mail one of our staff here at Sector 7!

UPDATE: Yes, the forums have been fixed! Read the post below by Wolfy for futher details....

Who Says Girls Don't Have Game?
Posted: 11:55 am by Bongo -
Just a few hours ago Bungie posted a wonderful (and humorous) interview with Brook Szabo asking Lorraine McLees, an employee at Bungie, about all things Halo and Xbox. Lorraine rocks. Who would have thought working at Bungie (creators of Halo) could be so cool?! Hehe, just kidding- We all know how great it must be. But if you want to know more, be sure to read the article posted at!

There's been a great deal of talk over the Great Halo Scavenger Hunt, and Sector 7 would like to clarify something for those who've lost hope. Folks, there are 28 prizes to be won in the main hunt. As of this moment, 3 of them have been claimed. That means there is still 25 heaping mounds of Halo goodies to be won!

If you're still confused feel free to visit the rules page here. As for those stumped and without faith- Hold strong! Clues should be filtering in soon!

Get Your Game On!

Bungie is once again striving to keep its fans updated and informed with its updated release of its Halo PC FAQ. An HTML version is available for viewing as well as a Halo PC information page. Once again, if you're experiencing any problems with your copy of Halo PC, one of these sites will almost certainly have the answer!

These past few weeks have been great for Halo and gaming fans alike, and after a brief wait their voices are being heard. Here at Sector 7 we've conveniently gathered together some of the reviews from the names you know...and....some you don't. So please, enjoy!

Gamespot: Halo PC Review
IGN: Halo Combat Evolved Review
Gaming Horizon

While this has absolutely nothing to do with Halo, it deserves mentioning. Just recently hackers managed to tap into Valve's (creators of Half-Life and the upcoming Half-Life 2) secure server, steal the Half-Life 2's source code and content, and escape unscathed. This has generated talk across the entire gaming community, with major developers carefully keeping an eye on what went wrong. It's an interesting read, and an article published by Gamespy is available here.

UPDATE: Sector 7 would like to apologize for its downed forums, but the problem is being resolved. Stay tuned for later reports!

New Links: Sector 7 would like to welcome and thank RVB Clan for becoming a member of its growing list of community friends. Be sure to check out this very nice looking website here. If you're interested in having your website posted on our site, please contact either wolfy or myself!

Updates Galor!
Posted: 12:18 pm by Bongo -
It's day 3 here at Sector 7 version 3.0, and we've already got a flurry of information to share with our loyal readers! So without further ado, I present to you the news of the day....

Bungie and Gearbox, part of the team who've labored away their days to bring you the newly released Halo: PC, have posted a FAQ regarding the Halo PC 1.02 patch and the changes that will be made. If you're experiencing any problems with your copy, be sure to read the file available here!

The Great Halo Scavenger Hunt has had some surprising results, and already the 7th (and final) Instant Prize has been found! Not long afterwards, the Grand Prize for the hunt itself was captured - the winning submission arrived at 3:40 am UTC this morning. This is much faster than the organizers had expected, but then again the Hunt was designed for the individual....not like the 6 people involved in capturing the Grand Prize :wassat:. However, there are still 27 prizes to win, so hope is far from lost! Sector 7 would like to congratulate all those who've won so far, and wish good luck to those still on the hunt for those missing clues....

New Playlists Up!
Posted: 5:12 pm by Jag - Halo 2
The new playlists for Halo 2 have been up for a while if you've missed them! And they're a blast!

Team Action Sack: This playlist is what you should be playing if you're looking for a chaotic and unpredictable experience! Some games include Rocket CTF, or SWAT Fiesta, Ninja Assault - and much more! These games were submitted by the fans - I submitted Invisaball a while ago, and now you can play it in Matchmaking! Bungie does listen to the fans!

Rumble Armory: This is also an action-packed playlist, abiet less insane! This playlist pits you against up to 7 other people, with games that feature a single weapon set - games include Brutes, Swords, Sentinal Beams, and other similar games! Give it a try!

6 vs 6 Battle: This is basically something to fit between Team Skirmish and Big Team - 6 vs 6 battles using a mixture of the Big Team playlist and Team Skirmish.

Additional Changes: The Head to Head and Major Clanmatch playlists are gone - forever... Minor Clanmatch has been renamed 'Clanmatch' and now supports up to 5 people, but your Minor Clanmatch ranks remain intact. Team Snipers is now ranked - and your 'invisible' rank is now visible! If you played a little, you may be a 5 or 6, but some people are in the upper 20's! Big Team now supports only 7 or 8 players per team, to make way for 6 vs 6 Battle.

...a pretty significant update, to say the least.
