Most important (From Bungie.net):
Gamespy Secuirty Hot-Fix for Halo PC and Halo PC Dedicated Server

The GameSpy Security Hot-Fix for Halo PC addresses a rare crash bug that could occur if a malicious individual (hacker) purposely tried to exploit the GameSpy CDKey SDK. This Hot-Fix changes the version number of Halo PC and Halo PC Dedicated Server to 1.04 from 1.031.

The updated version of the dedicated server can be downloaded HERE. The actual game update will be applied automatically the next time you attempt to play online.

Please keep in mind that it will take some time for all of the Halo PC server admins to upgrade their servers. Until this happens, you may encounter problems when trying to join a server still running the older version. Things should return to normal once the update gets circulated throughout the community.

All of the BUNGIE servers have already been updated and are available for play.

S.O.S- In Need Of Better News!
Posted: 2:54 pm by Bongo -
First off, I'd like to apologize for the lack of new content on the website. Our staff is a little disorganized at the moment, while others have let some things slip their memory. However, these slow times appear to have been hitting the Halo community as well, as all that we have for you today is some screenshots- albeit awesome ones. You can check out the Halo 2 screenshots here! You've probably seen them before, but be prepared for 3000-pixel-wide screenshot heaven!

If you're interested in joining the Sector 7 staff as either a writer or forum moderator, please contact Bongo (me). Be prepared to submit some examples of your best work if you're serious about applying, and those interested should review the requirements of such a position. Please, no angry hate mail.

The interview will be conducted by Unscrewed (TechTV), and will air on TechTV at 11:30pm Eastern. There's sure to be some laughs, so turn on that boob-tube and enjoy!

Music & Madness
Posted: 10:05 am by Bongo -
A press release has been floating around the Halo community this morning regarding the release of the new The Psyjnir Music Library. The letter is as follows...
Quote:
Music.Psyjnir.Org (MPO) was built to serve the community as a central library for all Bungie fan music, conversion and scenario music, and any other morsels of audio goodness. And after seven weeks in development, it is now ready to greet the public. In addition to digging up some of the classics, we have exclusive releases including two new pieces by SilverBrin**** and four official Red vs Blue pieces by Grasshopper. And MPO will be ever expanding, so check in every once in a while.

There's a great deal of Halo music to be found, so be sure to check out the website and enjoy!

Some helpful hints for Halo modders- bentllama, an animator from Bungie has been leaving a few notes around websites involved in Halo PC's most promising mods. One post regarding Wraith's Assault Boat, and then a reminder of a post on the CGTalk forum that details helpful information for those aspiring to be modelers.

Finally a post from Randy Pitchford on the Gearbox forums, where he openly expresses his frusteration of the delays involving the release of Halo PC content/patches/tools, claiming that it is the responsibility of Bungie and MGS to make sure such things are released to the public. It certainly isn't pretty, but is an interesting read...

New Playlists Up!
Posted: 5:12 pm by Jag - Halo 2
The new playlists for Halo 2 have been up for a while if you've missed them! And they're a blast!

Team Action Sack: This playlist is what you should be playing if you're looking for a chaotic and unpredictable experience! Some games include Rocket CTF, or SWAT Fiesta, Ninja Assault - and much more! These games were submitted by the fans - I submitted Invisaball a while ago, and now you can play it in Matchmaking! Bungie does listen to the fans!

Rumble Armory: This is also an action-packed playlist, abiet less insane! This playlist pits you against up to 7 other people, with games that feature a single weapon set - games include Brutes, Swords, Sentinal Beams, and other similar games! Give it a try!

6 vs 6 Battle: This is basically something to fit between Team Skirmish and Big Team - 6 vs 6 battles using a mixture of the Big Team playlist and Team Skirmish.

Additional Changes: The Head to Head and Major Clanmatch playlists are gone - forever... Minor Clanmatch has been renamed 'Clanmatch' and now supports up to 5 people, but your Minor Clanmatch ranks remain intact. Team Snipers is now ranked - and your 'invisible' rank is now visible! If you played a little, you may be a 5 or 6, but some people are in the upper 20's! Big Team now supports only 7 or 8 players per team, to make way for 6 vs 6 Battle.

...a pretty significant update, to say the least.

Team ActionSack?
Posted: 3:12 pm by Jag - Weekly Whats Update
Bungie finally posted another WWU - and this one contains some very, very important information regarding the new playlists:

Quote:
~Major Clanmatch and Head to Head have been removed.

~Minor Clanmatch has received a change in configuration. It will now be called Clanmatch and will allow for team of 4-5 clan members each. Your Minor Clanmatch ranks will persist to the new Clanmatch playlist.

~Two new unranked playlists have been added, Rumble Armory and Team ActionSack.

~6v6 Team Battle has been added as a ranked playlist featuring team sizes of 5-6 players each.

~Big Team Battle now supports only larger team sizes of 7-8 players each.

~Team Snipers is now a ranked playlist and has a total of 15 maps. Your hidden rank will now be displayed.

~WE DID NOT WIPE ANY STATS, STOP LISTENING TO RUMORS! CALM DOWN!

Important information indeed! The WWU also contains a little bit of an FAQ on how to change your 360 theme, and some stuff about the Halo Movie... Read it here!

Xbox 360 launch!
Posted: 9:11 pm by Jag - Xbox
Well, the 360 went on sale early this morning to eager fans - one guy in Seattle camped out for four days! Frankie posted a brief retrospective on Bungie.net. Several members of ours have 360's - I'll try to get an interview of someone to see how it is...

Have fun!
