Posted: 12:32 pm by Wolfy -
For anyone that hasn't grabbed Halo PC for some reason, you can now play it before you buy it (or play some of it). I would recommend getting this demo if you are wondering if it will play on your computer.

As good people, we have a mirror database of websites where you can download the demo. Go here: http://www.sector7-halo.com/links/index.php?CID=5 for this list.

Sorry for the odd downtime on a few things. It appears the MySQL server went down today. The MySQL server runs the Poll system, Forums, and the Link Database. But I believe everything is back up, so get posting on the forums!

Today was a great day for those Halo fans looking for a way to show off their "mad skillz". What opportunity you ask am I talking about. Well, after years of talk, The Halo for Windows Worldwide Tournament has finally been announced! The tournament will kick off on November 15th. All participants must register, so be sure to log on and read the terms if you have any plans of Halo domination! Play will take place in iGames member centers around the world. For full details be sure to check out the B.net page...

Still have questions about Halo PC? Want to know why they did what they did, and why they did it? Well the opportunity may arise for some players to ask about these "pressing matters" An IRC chat with representatives from Microsoft, Bungie, and Gearbox has been scheduled to take place on October 29 on the channel #CPL on GamesNET. Details about the chat can be found here on the CPL site. Topics will include HaloPC and the CPL Winter Championship coming up in December....

The Halo moding community has been keeping themselves busy, and have just released the SparkEdit 1.1, an Xbox Halo map editor and viewer. You can edit cache files to move player spawns, scenery, weapons, flags, hill placement, and more. The app can be found here, on HaloMods.

UPDATE: Sector 7 would like to point out that the polling system and forums are down for the moment, and would ask that you disregard any irregularities it may cause when viewing the site. The problem is being checked out, and should be resolved shortly

For those of you who think that the Great Halo Scavenger Hunt is over, think again. There's still tons of loot to be won, and while some of the clues may be harder to find and decipher than others, they do exist! Louis Wu from HBO had this to say....

Quote:
Wow. It looks like folks have pretty much given up on the Great Halo Scavenger Hunt... and that makes me sad. There's a post on our forum that MIGHT summarize what the problem is - but I know that the puzzle is solveable, since several people have solved it already. So here's the deal: we're gonna give you one of the trinkets. This was the first one found, and it was posted on our forum at least twice, so I don't feel too bad giving it away. If you visit Battleground: Halo, and stop by their FAQ, a text search on the page will turn up a question that isn't linked at the top. It's down in the last section, and it asks 'What is the fifth trinket?' and the answer is 'East'. They're not all in plain sight like that - but (with a couple of exceptions) they all mention 'trinket', which should make things a bit simpler. Remember - you're looking for 10 of these, and you're looking on Halo-related websites for them. In the process of finding them, you should ALSO find clues about what to do with them. (At the start, don't worry about what to do with them - just keep track of them. It really will become clearer.) Only 3 of the 28 prizes have been claimed at this point... there is still a LOT of schwag to grab!

While you're on the hunt, why not take a break to look at these "refreshing" posts from Bungie. They appear to have been taken during the BETA stage, but that's not to say that they aren't awesome. Check them out over at Bungie.net!

Now that we're on the topic of prizes and schwag, a new contest has opened for all those Halo PC fans without the dough to bake the cookies! (Okay, maybe that was a little bit too metaphorical..) Hypothermia is giving away 10 free copies, three of which that are autographed by the Gearbox team, of Halo PC for anyone that wants them! No trinkets, no trivia, no hassle! Just enter the contest (be sure to read the rules that apply), leave your name and email, and you're done! Good luck...

The Halo community got word today of an upcoming Halo tournament ("Halo Fall Brawl"), hosted by www.bloodgulch.com. Games will be held in Riverside, Rhode Island. The fee is $80/per team, but you can expect tons of cash and cool schwag from Alienware, NVIDIA, Bawls, Dominos, and Dunkin' Donuts to be won. As of now the date is set for Sunday, November 2, at 11:30, so get those thumbs in training!

Coming in November, from Joyride - 3" action figures, in 2-piece sets (jackal and MC, or red/blue MCs) and 5-piece sets (5 different-colored MCs, or MC, pair of marines, pair of jackals). Thanks to HBO for the heads up!

Background Information

A little bit of history for those of you who don't know us.
Enemy Down was created in January 2002 as a single Counter-Strike ladder by SPIKEdog. Since then the ladder has evolved into 4 seperate UK ladders plus a Euro ladder and a Hostage Map ladder. In July 2003 Day Of Defeat support was added in the form of UK and Euro ladders which were later merged. The website has a fantastic community surrounding its forums and IRC channel. ED is proud to be a gaming organisation the takes a lot of feedback from the players, and is contantly evolving to provide exactly what the community needs.
WOTD?
Posted: 6:56 am by Wolfy -
Added the WOTD today. What it stands for is Wallpaper of the Day. Everyday, there will be a new wallpaper that will be featured. You can simply click the image, and a pop-up window will appear, you chose the resolution in which you would like to download the wallpaper, right-click and press "Save as Wallpaper". Easy as that.

Thanks to Gamewallpapers.com for this cool system.
