Please stay on topic. Nothing generates spam or degrades the quality of a thread/post than a group of people who can't stay focused on the original topic. If you have something to say that does not pertain to the thread you are posting in, feel free to start a new thread (so long as the topic is meaningful/relevent).
Promoting of outside clans or websites is forbidden. Any posts found to be guilty of advertising websites or clans on the Sector 7 Forums will be immedietly deleted by a moderator.
No discussion of piracy/warez. Sector 7 does not in any way incourage, agree with, or participate in any illegal activities regarding pirated software/games, and the same is to be expected of our members. Any mention of a warez site or how to acquire pirated software will result in the immediete removal of posting privaledges, and possibly even a permanent ban.
Support your responses. When replying to a post or thead, or giving an opinion, please make sure to back up your answer with reasoning. Please refrain from saying simply "_____ sucks" or "I agree"; if you are to contribute and participate in public discussions, it is necessary that you explain why you said what you did. Furthermore, replies to all threads should be at least a minimum of one sentence long, with consideration taken towards grammar and spelling by every member.
No unecessary violence or "flaming". Please do not flame your fellow members without valid reason! Unprovoked aggressiveness or flaming or other members will result in a warning. After two of these warnings by any of our moderators, your posting privledges will be removed for a period of two days. If any follow-up moderation is required, you will be permanently banned from the Sector 7 Forums.
Be courteous when choosing signatures. To make reading the boards easier and more accessible, signatures containing an image are restricted to a reasonable size of 250x600 (height x width), with anything larger being removed by the moderators.
If you are using text in your signature, please restrict it to four or less lines and a smaller font if possible. Moderators have a right to edit your signature if they feel in inappropriate or simply too large.
Harassment. The Sector 7 Staff take harassment on our Forums extremely seriously, and will simply not tolerate it amongst our members. As many have already witnessed We simply won't tolerate it, and I don't know many people that will tolerate it. As most of you have witnessed, harassment- sexual or otherwise -will result in an immediete and permanent ban.
If you feel you are being harassed on the Sector 7 Forums, either in public discussions or through the use of the private messaging system, notify a Moderator or the Site Administrator immedietly so that the situation can be assessed and responded to appropriately. If you feel you are being harassed by use of the PM system, do NOT delete the message. Again, you may forward the message to a moderator who will deal with the problem accordingly.
Proper usage of the Off-Topic Board. The Off-Topic Board was created in as a place for people to post and discuss topics that do not have a place in the regular, Halo or site-related rooms. However, topics such as "Guess the Next Poster game," or anything of a similar degree, are not acceptable within the Off-Topic Board. Over time, they have become a nuisance to our moderator staff, and are generally pointless, unintelligent, and immature. If threads such as these are being exploited to increase post count or the like, they will be promptly locked and deleted.
Immaturity. A recent and growing problem in the boards has been the overall immaturity of some of our members. While such things obviously cannot be entirely enforced, and it is more the responsibility of the individual to act maturely, it is not to be looked up upon. The Sector 7 Staff asks that all members make an effort to make proper English, grammar, and paragraphing a part of each post made on these boards. We are aware that some members are not as comfortable with the English language as others, but that is no reason to avoid using proper grammar.
Cursing. Sector 7 places a great deal of faith in our members, and as a result we feel it is not necessary to filter out profane language, so long as it is used sparringly and "justly". Cursing, albeit a harsh means of expression, is sometimes necessary for one to convey their feelings or disatisfaction. However, that is not to say excessive or unecessary swearing will be tolerated. If the language becomes too extreme or begins to get out of control, the moderation team has the right to intervene and repremend the troublemakers.
Proper usage of capitalization. Please refrain from changing any text formating when posting on the Sector 7 Forums (IE. Colour changes, font sizes, CAPS LOCK..). Not only is it difficult to read, but it can interfere with the way our members view the page due to the expansions web browsers make to accomodate the text. If a moderator deems a text too large or unacceptable, they hold the right to edit it accordingly.
